Don't the 'no' votes count in Dist. 38?
I have written before but this issue compels me to write again.
The Big Hollow School referendum passed by a very slim majority. After four or five tries, they managed to push it through. What about all those other no votes? They don't count? Are those people going to pay our higher taxes? Are we going to get an accounting of where all the old and new money goes?
And a big question is who paid for all those professional brochures, door knob hangers, yard signs and other propaganda that was handed out this past month? The taxpayers? So wrong.
The school board? Wrong again. A private citizen? Not likely. I would really like an answer to this one. It was a hard-core press in favor of a few.
Ah, American politics in 2008. Even on the local level it is the "rich" over the poor.
Now it seems fair that we get another three elections to pass the no vote. After all, that is what it took for the yes to get through.
