New principal tapped at Barrington High

Barrington Area Unit District 220 board members Tuesday chose Barrington High School Associate Principal Stephen McWilliams to be the school's new principal next fall.

McWilliams will succeed this year's interim principal Emil Rode. McWilliams is a graduate of Barrington High School, as well as a faculty member there for the past decade.

He was a science teacher there from 1998 to 2002 and then dean of students from 2002 to 2007. He began his teaching career at Streamwood High School.

District officials said McWilliams was chosen after an extensive search that attracted candidates from across the country.
