G. Angel Plumbing expands in DuPage with Mr. Rooter franchise
Gainsey and Karen Angel have expanded their family-operated plumbing company.
The family has operated G. Angel Sewer Service Inc. for the past 45 years, doing business in Cook, Lake and Kane counties. The couple, wanting to expand into DuPage County, thought a franchise with name recognition would best serve their needs. So they recently became owners of Mr. Rooter Plumbing franchise.
Through the franchise, they offer all types of sewer and plumbing repair. Karen said they also handle sewer rodding, hydro-jetting, video camera inspections and work with hot water heaters and sump pumps.
The business serves residential, commercial and industrial clients.
Karen added that a big part of their business this time of year are calls for frozen pipes. She recommends that when it's cold outside, homeowners should keep cabinet doors open, especially when the pipes face an outside wall.
She explained that her husband, the youngest of eight boys, grew up in the family plumbing business. His brother, Archie, started G. Angel.
Gainsey, 59, now operates the business. Gainsey and Karen, who have been married for 40 years, reside in Bloomingdale.
In expanding with Mr. Rooter, the couple said they offer a menu pricing guide so customers know the price of the job up front. There is no fee for Mr. Rooter to come out, no travel fee and never an overtime charge, the couple said.
The company is licensed, bonded and informed. The technicians are always in uniform. Technicians also take off their shoes and wear covers on their feet when working in a client's home.

The Cotton's spirit of giving embraces local high schools, the American Cancer Society and an assortment of groups that conduct fund-raising car washes at the Ford dealership.
"We have become community leaders," said Paul Cotton, "and we value the importance of building long-term relationships."
Their signature event is the festive Christmas Sharing Party, which Joe Cotton began in 1985 in partnership with the Carol Stream Police Department and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve's Toys for Tots program. "He knows what it means to be raised in limited circumstances," said Paul, whose father was raised by a single mother in Alabama.
