Two men charged in Barrington Hills break-in

Barrington Hills police announced Saturday the arrests of two men accused in a home burglary.

One of the suspects, Anthony B. Burbridge of Schaumburg, was being held on a $150,000 bond in the Cook County jail, authorities said.

The other suspect, Rafael Mendez of Hoffman Estates, was in custody in lieu of a $50,000 bond. Police said they were called to Roundstone Lane in Barrington Hills at 11:17 a.m. Thursday after a resident spotted what were described as two suspicious men walking around a house.

Police said as the officers were en route, Mendez and Burbridge smashed a glass pane in a rear patio door and broke into the Roundstone Lane house.

Police Sgt. David Kann arrived and found the suspects in the home's driveway near a running Mitsubishi Lancer.

Officers then took the men into custody. Police didn't specify if Mendez and Burbridge took anything from the house.

The men are due in the Cook County circuit court Rolling Meadows branch Thursday morning. Police said the suspects walked around the house and checked several doors to see if they were unlocked.

Police said shoe prints inside the home matched those observed on the property outside.
