Look for facts, not just press releases
A recent article on the Cook County proposed gun ban uses as fact numerous false and inaccurate statistics. Specifically, the part where it mentions "thousands of guns used in the commission of crimes were traced to a South Side gun shop."
Recently, these assertions have been contained in press releases by Cook County Commissioner Larry Suffredin, who is attempting to use them to launch a race for Cook County state's attorney.
Think about the huge number of crimes which must be investigated, and then of those crimes -- the ones that include a recovered gun -- and then subsequent traces that lead to the "South Side gun shop."
Just on the surface the numbers themselves prove to be false. A responsible media would go beyond the face value of the assertions and do the investigation themselves.
A responsible candidate for state's attorney would not use baseless, inaccurate statistics for a position which requires integrity and honesty.
Use your vote in the primary to send a message to Larry Suffredin that you want honesty, not Larry Suffredin.
