Briefs: Singing valentines
You can surprise your sweetheart with a singing valentine Feb. 14 from the Fox Valley Men of Harmony barbershop quartets. They are delivered between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. in Kane and McHenry counties and nearby towns. Formally dressed quartets deliver two love songs, a red silk rose and a personalized card. Cooking with herbs
The Geneva Garden Club will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Geneva History Center, 113 S. Third St., Geneva. Refreshments will be served from 11:30 to noon, then there is a business meeting, followed by "Cooking With Herbs." For details, call (630) 232-9181.
Senior tax deferrals
Real estate tax deferral applications for senior citizens are available through the Kane County Treasurer's Office, Building A, Kane County Government Center, 719 S. Batavia Ave. (Route 31), Geneva. It permits qualified senior citizens to defer all or a portion of their real estate taxes until the sale of the home or the person's death. Forms are due March 1. To qualify, a senior citizen must be 65 or older by June 1; have a total household income of $50,000 or less; have lived on the property for at least three years; not owe any delinquent property taxes; and have proof of homeowners insurance. School supporters to meet
