What are other costs with pool?
I have been reading about the plans Wauconda has to build an Olympic-size pool for the community.
I have some primary concerns that should be considered before taking on such an enormous project. I have read and heard much discussion centered on the cost of the construction of the pool. What I haven't heard is any discussion on the cost for the maintenance of the pool.
Should we not consider the cost of the maintenance as part of this discussion? There are enormous costs to maintenance: First, the biggest consideration is the cost for insurance. I am sure that this would be a big expense. We certainly cannot underestimate the cost of insurance especially in a recreational project such as a swimming pool. The dangers and possible accidents that would require insurance coverage have got to be measured.
In addition to that important factor is the general maintenance of the pool. The cost of the staffing, including the training of lifeguards and other trained staff has to be considered. What about the maintenance of the bathrooms, which would include showers and lockers and changing areas? Have we considered these as well?
I would like to find out if anyone has analyzed the cost of the pool's maintenance after its construction. Has anyone done this analysis? If so, I think this is important information that the public has to consider, probably even more important than just the initial construction.
