Benefit concert at Friendship Village

A benefit concert for The Artistry in Music Foundation will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the concert hall of Friendship Village, 350 W. Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg.

Volunteer participants will provide a night of classical music. During intermission, a string quartet will play Joplin, and snacks and beverages will be available for purchase.

The orchestra will be conducted by Joseph Malmquist, director of the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra, Conant High School Orchestra, and a member of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.

Featured will be the works of Vivaldi, Bach and others. In addition to the orchestra, there also will be solo numbers featuring teachers and advanced students.
