Celebrate 'the King's' birthday at film talk
Elvis fans -- reserve your places for an Elvis birthday celebration at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mount Prospect Public Library, 10 S. Emerson St.
Even though you probably missed the huge Jan. 8 celebration at his Graceland mansion in Memphis on what would have been Elvis' actual 73rd birthday, you can celebrate closer to home when film aficionado Steven Frenzel gives an overview of the King's legendary movie career.
Elvis was the king of rock and roll and a compelling performer, but he was also a major box office draw. He starred in more than 30 movies.
Frenzel's program will feature a number of classic movie clips and a discussion of the Elvis legend. To register, visit www.mppl.org/events or phone (847) 253-5675.

The Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Arts in Elmhurst will be the destination on March 6. There you can explore the world of geology and gemstones.

Finally, on March 12 there will be an afternoon trip to the historic Lincoln Park Conservatory where you can see many exotic plants, tropical palms, ancient ferns and spring flowers in bloom. The fee is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents.
