Motorola expands Qualcomm deal

SCHAUMBURG -- Motorola announced it is broadening its relationship with Qualcomm Inc., a developer of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions. Motorola intends to design Qualcomm chipsets into certain UMTS 3G phones beginning at the end of 2008 and in 2009. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The agreement represents a further step in the execution of Motorola's silicon strategy, said Alain Mutricy, senior vice president, platform technology, of Motorola's mobile devices business.
