Free tree collection through January
During January, the village of Cary's refuse hauler, Groot Recycling and Waste Services, continues to collect Christmas trees at no additional charge to Cary residents.
The remaining dates when the Christmas trees will be collected are Thursday and Jan. 31.
Residents who choose to take advantage of this free service are to make sure their Christmas trees are placed by the curb by 6:30 a.m. each designated day. The Christmas trees will be chipped by Groot and recycled for future use. Trees must be free of all tinsel, garland, ornaments, lights and other decorations.
"The village is very pleased that Groot is continuing this service to Cary residents," said Mayor Steve Lamal. "Trees collected in the village are mulched and recycled for re-use," he concluded.
