Clear Vision Program: The Schaumburg Township Highway Department's Clear Vision Program runs through Feb. 23. A light car wash is available to township residents from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays at the Township Road and Bridge Garage, One Illinois Blvd.

There's no charge for the car wash, but a donation of nonperishable boxed or canned goods is appreciated.

Speakers bureau: The Cook County Sheriff's Speakers Bureau provides speakers to schools, businesses, organizations and community groups in Cook County free of charge.

The program features speakers from all areas of the Sheriff's Office, who distribute pertinent information and answer questions about law enforcement and public safety, as well as give presentations on the Cook County jail, Cook County courts, senior citizen safety and more.

New parking ordinance: The Schaumburg Township Highway Department has adopted a no overnight parking ordinance for all streets in unincorporated Schaumburg Township.

Parking will not be permitted on any road or right-of-way from 2 to 6 a.m., as well as on roads or right-of-ways after two inches of snowfall. The ordinance will be enforced by Cook County sheriff's police.

Restock the pantry: The Schaumburg Township Food Pantry is running low on select grocery items. Needed are canned tomato products, peanut butter and jelly, canned pasta, canned meats, tuna, chunky soup and spaghetti sauce. Paper products, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste and deodorant are also requested.

Donations are accepted year-round at the pantry. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. After 5 p.m., donations may be left with security at the front desk.

Schaumburg Teen Center: The Schaumburg Teen Center, 231 Civic Drive, is available for a variety of activities. The schedule is as follows:

• Monday: open 3 to 5:30 p.m.

• Tuesday: Homework Help from 3 to 4:30 p.m., open from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• Wednesday: Healthy Snacks from 2:30 to 3:30, open from 2 to 5 and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• Thursday: open 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• Friday: open 3 to 5:30 and 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.

• Saturday: open 1 to 4 p.m.

Drop in for pool, ping pong, foosball, darts, video games, board games and computer access. Other activities include arts and crafts, holiday events/parties, teen wellness programs, community service projects, guest speakers, drug prevention/intervention, discussion groups, sporting events, mini golf and bowling.

Passport assistance: Schaumburg Township now provides passport assistance to residents. Applications for a passport may be obtained from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Clerk's Office, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

Passport fees: $67 for adults, $52 for children ages 15 and younger, payable to the U.S. Department of States (check or money order only). There is an additional $30 handling fee per application, payable to Schaumburg Township.

Applicants will need to provide two passport photos. No appointment is necessary to process the completed application. For more information, call (847) 884-0030.

Volunteers needed: Adult volunteers interested in making a difference in teenagers' lives are needed at Schaumburg Township's Spectrum Youth and Family Services in-house teen center and the Vogelei Teen Center.

Volunteers interact with teens in a casual atmosphere to provide positive adult support. Volunteers receive training in listening skills, as well as ongoing supervision by professional staff members. Prospective volunteers must agree to serve one four-hour shift per week for a minimum of four months.

Spectrum is located in the Schaumburg Township Hall, One Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates, and Vogelei Teen Center is located at Higgins and Golf roads in Hoffman Estates.
