Boy dies in Crystal Lake

A three-year-old boy died Thursday after what appears to be an accidental suffocation, Crystal Lake police said. At 4:48 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a child not breathing at a residence on the 200 block of Prairie Street. Police found the boy unconscious and tried to revive him with CPR until paramedics arrived. The boy was taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center in McHenry, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy is scheduled for today. The death is still under investigation.
