Briefs: ECC sets founders' brunch

Elgin Community College and the ECC Foundation invite area residents to Brunching with the Stars … Celebrating the Stars of ECC, the college's 10th annual Founders' Brunch, Sunday in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive. The event, which commemorates the 59th anniversary of the founding of the college, is open to the public and begins with a champagne reception at 11:30 a.m. A brunch will be served from noon to 2:30 p.m. Funds raised provide financial support to the students and ECC instructional programs. Parks volunteer needed

The St. Charles Park Foundation is seeking volunteers for an immediate opening on its board of trustees. The 12-person board serves the St. Charles Park District in land acquisition, conservation, preservation and recreational efforts. Trustees attend 5:30 p.m. board meetings on the last Thursday of each month and sometimes serve on committees. Letters of interest should be sent to the St. Charles Park Foundation, 101 S. Kids dance clinic

The Geneva High School varsity dance team will conduct a dance clinic for first- through fifth-graders from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the high school. The cost is $30 for preregistration and $35 at the door. This includes a practice session, a T-shirt, pompoms and a snack. Learn about financial aid

An informational forum on college financial aid is planned for 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles North High School, 255 Red Gate Road. Ruth Pusich, financial director at Elmhurst College, will talk about all areas of financial aid, including scholarships and scams. Call (630) 443-5700.

Indian restaurant opens

A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Wednesday will mark the opening of Taj of India restaurant, 1554 E. Main St., St. Charles. The public is invited.
