You want me to buy you a what?
A message to the Wauconda Pool Foundation: With predicted foreclosures running into the millions, and as a result a highly likely recession facing us this year, we are all going to have to pay for the consequences of the actions of a group of people who bought something they wanted but could not afford. Picking up the tab for someone else's poor judgment in buying a home is bad enough, but being asked to pay for a luxury item that someone else wants but is not willing to pay for themselves is just plain wrong. My message to the Wauconda Pool Foundation is simple -- don't spend more money than you have for something that I don't need or want and expect me to pay for it. If you want a big new expensive toy, pay for it yourself or buy one that you can afford.
With today's economy, too many people are already struggling to pay for necessities such as food, housing and medical care. While it was very nice of you to donate $283,600 to the park district, that does not give you the right to demand $12 million from the rest of us.
I strongly urge all Wauconda residents who agree with me to attend the meeting to discuss the pool at the Wauconda Park District office, 600 N. Main St,, Wauconda -- Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. and more importantly vote "no" on the Feb. 5 referendum request. It's your money.
