Taking issue with writer's depiction

In response to Gerald McMahon's Jan. 9 letter of accusing the BEST committee of trying to destroy Larry Snow and Aileen Seedorf, I would like to set a few things straight.

First, he spelled my name wrong -- there is no "s"on Meyer. Second, and most importantly, the BEST committee ceased operations in 2005.

I am surprised that the chairman of the Sun City Current Events Club would not be aware of this, and is instead spreading misinformation. Behavior like this does a distinct disservice to the citizens of Sun City and the rest of the community.

Third, although I supported BEST and its activities, I was never actually one of its leaders. Zealots like McMahon should get their facts straight before spouting sensationalized diatribe.

The mission of Building Exceptional Schools Together was to help improve the community by promoting the necessary infrastructure development of the school system during a time of unprecedented growth.

To this end, BEST was extremely successful, convincing the community that investing in the schools was the correct decision for all. The district is in the black precisely because of the community's decision.

Thanks, BEST. A side benefit was that Mike Skala and Tony Quagliano, (not Larry Snow) were able to spearhead efforts to actually change state referendum laws for the better, thus helping the taxpayer.

Yes, I am a concerned parent, and I believe Snow and Seedorf should resign from the board because they are contributing nothing positive whatsoever to the development of the district or the community.

They instead appear to be trying to tear it apart. They actually cost the district (taxpayers) money with their incessant attacks on fellow board members and administrators, their frivolous claims of corruption, and their constant disruption of meeting flow. It is time for them to move on (out).
