Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St., Naperville, will offer the following classes, programs and events. Classes are at Edward, unless noted otherwise.
CPR class: This American Heart Association class Jan. 24 covers choking, rescue breathing and cardiopulmonary resuscitation for infants, children and adults. Participants will be taught how to determine the type of assistance someone might need and the most effective way of assisting. This is not a certification course. Heartsaver: An American Heart Association class designed for the non health-care person who requires certification for their workplace meets Jan. 26.
The class covers choking, rescue breathing and one-person rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants. The course also includes training and practice on the use of an automated external defibrillator and practice of first aid skills.
Participants who successfully complete the skills and written tests will be awarded a Heartsaver CPR/AED/first aid certification card valid for two years. The fee is $75. Info: (630) 527-6363.
Loss support: SHARE, a support group for couples who have experienced an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, stillbirth or newborn death, and Sharing Hope, a support group for couples who have experienced such a loss and are pregnant or considering pregnancy, meet Jan. 29 at Edward Education Center. Car seat basics: Parents-to-be and grandparents can learn about car seat features, tips on buying the safest car seat and guidelines for installing and using the seat correctly Jan. 30. Free. Info: (630) 527-6363.
Grief recovery: A Grief Support and Recovery Workshop meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays and a Grief Support Program from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursdays in the Education Center at Edward Hospital, 801 S. Washington St., Naperville. Both groups are for adults who have lost a teen or adult loved one. Info: (630) 527-5056.
Parent support group: Managing Multiples meets from 10 to 11:30 a.m. the second Thursday of each month. The group is open to couples who are expecting, parents of multiples or parents who have one or more children and need to get their life in order. Parents are encouraged to bring their babies. Multiple sclerosis exercise: The water's buoyancy and resistance provides support and aids in building muscle control for people diagnosed with MS. Participants must be able to stand in the pool without assistance. Ten-week sessions are available, with two classes per week. Info: (630) 646-5917.
Yoga mama: Pre/postnatal yoga promotes stability, energy, flexibility, balance and relaxation. Infants ages 6 months and younger can attend with postnatal participants for six-week sessions at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Info: (630) 646-5917.
Pre/postnatal exercise: Participants in the pre/postnatal land exercise class will improve their stamina and strength in preparation for childbirth. The class meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Info: (630) 646-5917.
Water exercise: Prenatal Water Exercise provides a safe, aerobic workout in a buoyant environment. Ten-week sessions meet at 5:30 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 9:45 a.m. Tuesday and Thursday, and 10 a.m. Saturday. Info: (630) 646-5917.
