Officials wary as Chain O' Lakes, Fox River near flood stage

Fox Lake officials are keeping an eye on the rising water levels on the Chain O' Lakes, but said there isn't much concern today that it will overflow its banks.

Ed Lescher, head of the village's Emergency Services Disaster Agency, said the Chain has about 6 inches to 1 foot of storage room left before it starts overflowing.

He said, though, the water is high and people should be prepared in case any rainfall occurs.

"Not really nervous at this point, but we are monitoring the water levels and keeping a close eye on it," he said. "We are checking the lower subdivisions and have sandbags available in case it there's a problem."
