New trustees bring experience to board

The Conservation Foundation recently announced the appointment of two new members to its board of trustees at its November board meeting in Naperville.

June Keibler and Rich Guerard join as a result of their previous affiliation with the Fox Valley Land Foundation, which merged with The Conservation Foundation in October. Each will serve three-year terms.

A founder of the Fox Valley Land Foundation, Keibler initiated the drive to create an open space referendum in Dundee Township and was a volunteer in natural area restoration in Kane County for 20 years. She is retired from Witness Tree Native Landscaping Inc., an ecological restoration company.

Guerard has been involved in the building industry for 25 years and is currently a general partner of Wyndham Deerpoint Homes, a builder/developer primarily in the Fox Valley area. He is also a partner in the law firm of Guerard, Kalina & Butkus in Wheaton. Guerard is a past president and current director of the Home Builders Association of Greater Fox Valley, a director of the Northern Illinois Home Builders Association and a director of Attainable Housing Alliance. Guerard was previously a member and director of the Fox Valley Land Foundation.

"We're excited to be adding June's and Rich's energy and commitment to our conservation mission," said Bob Hutchinson, chairman of The Conservation Foundation's board, in making the announcement. "We look forward to expanding the pace of land preservation and our member base in Kane County."

The Conservation Foundation is a nonprofit land and watershed protection organization. Established in 1972 by business and community leaders, the foundation is dedicated to preserving open space and natural lands, protecting rivers and watersheds and promoting stewardship of the environment in northeast Illinois.
