Carpentersville woman accused of identity theft

Carpentersville police charged a 26-year-old woman Thursday with felony identity theft.

Maria S. Cervintes of 148 Golfview Lane #D, Carpentersville, was held in the Kane County jail on $15,000 bond with a Jan. 25 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.

On Wednesday, a BP Amoco corporate investigator told police they had received numerous calls from a 30-year-old woman from Carpentersville who had been receiving employee mailings from the company.

However, she said she was not an employee of BP Amoco and had never been.

The investigator said a woman now employed at the BP Amoco at 1100 W. Stearns Road in Bartlett was using the victim's name, date of birth and Social Security number.

During an interview with police, the victim said her purse with her identification, including Social Security card and Illinois driver's license, was stolen from a vehicle about two years ago.

Cervintes was arrested at the gas station in Bartlett.

Carpentersville police on Tuesday charged Ambrosio DeJesus-Flores, 39, of 133 W. Blair St., West Chicago, with stealing the identity of an 11-year-old girl and using the information for nine years for employment, securing a $149,000 mortgage, maintaining a cell phone account and registering cars.
