EPA agrees to fine for Woodridge firm
WOODRIDGE -- The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Friday it reached an agreement with Champion Packaging and Distribution for alleged clean air violations at its Woodridge plant. The agreement, which carries a $158,800 fine, calls for Champion to reduce the volatile organic compounds in some of its windshield washer products by 80 percent. Such compounds, the EPA said, contribute to ozone-based smog.
