Change candidates should be seeking
I am not surprised at the emphasis on change coming from both parties given the miserable and even alarming record of the Bush administration.
What I would like is for the candidates to also emphasize restoration.
We need to restore balance among the three coequal branches of government, rule of law, judicial fairness, decision making for the larger public good, openness in governance, habeas corpus, security from unwarranted searches, environmental stewardship, and, most important of all, restoration of our standing in the world as a constructive partner and moral force based on our own moral behavior.
