Wrap: Martinez's 23 lead Huntley by Marengo

Megan Martinez scored 23 points Thursday night to lead Huntley's girls basketball team to a 56-48 nonconference win over Marengo.

Daisy Jara added 14 points for the Red Raiders (10-7).

York 54, Bartlett 33: Bartlett (5-14) was unable to pull out a win against York in nonconference play. Bartlett was led by Jacki Gulcynski who had 12 points. Sam Salinas and Rachael Anello contributed 5 points each for the Hawks.

Crystal Lake South 46, Grayslake North 45: Crystal Lake South came away with a close win defeating Grayslake North 46-45 in Fox Valley crossover play. Carly Juliano led the Gators (13-5) with 17 points. Michelle Gaede added 13 points for the Gators.

Hampshire athlete Omaha Pro Training selection: Baseball Factory has announced that Zachary Crinigan, of Hampshire was recently selected to participate in the Omaha Pro Select Training Camp & Tournament.

Crinigan's selection to the Under Armour National Team for participation at the Omaha Pro Select Training Camp & Tournament was based on his performances at the Baseball Express Signature College Recruiting Program in Chicago.

The Omaha Pro Select Training Camp & Tournament will bring players from across the country together to train and compete while experiencing the College World Series.

Players will receive instruction from professional scouts, former professional players and former college coaches. Players will compete on the Under Armour National Team against other players from across the country. Baseball Factory and Team One Baseball scouts select players for the Omaha Pro Select Training Camp & Tournament based on their performance at a previous event. The event will take place June 19-25, in Omaha, Neb.

Crinigan, a 5-foot-10, 180 pound third baseman, is in his junior year at Hampshire High School.

Judson softball signing: Adding a third player to the 2009 class, coach Becky Bruns has signed softball recruit Alyssa Cook to become an Eagle. Cook is from Antioch.

Cook is a two-time letterman for Antioch Community High School under head coach Mary Easton and will be a pitcher and outfielder for Judson. At Antioch, Cook has played volleyball and been involved with the Senior Leaders and Senior Advisor. She is a member of the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.

She also plays for the Lakeland Vipers and coach John Cook in the summer. She has earned numerous MVPs during the summer leagues.
