Without tollways, there'd be no flaws
Congratulations to the Daily Herald for the fine, informative series on the Tollway Authority.
The extent of toll evasion by scofflaws, and the drastic fines applied by an admittedly flawed administrative system were astounding.
Of course, if we did not have tollways, these problems would not exist. But we can't have that in tax-happy Illinois, can we?
A majority of Illinois citizens are probably unaware that the original prospectus for the Illinois Tollway System called for it to be phased out in 20 years. Kind of brings tears to the eyes, does it not?
