Candidates often run while in office
I see Don Lamb is upset about Barack Obama's presidential campaigning while he is a member of Congress.
It seems to me that most candidates in primaries are current elected politicians. In order to run, a candidate needs to be relevant; in fact, Bush and Clinton were both serving as governors while they ran for president.
Illinois has had Paul Simon, Phil Crane and John Anderson run for president while also serving in Congress.
