Wings head to UC with 31 wins in 42 games
Dominik Hasek stopped 22 shots for his 78th career shutout, Brian Rafalski scored a first-period goal, and the Detroit Red Wings beat the host Dallas Stars 3-0 on Saturday.
Hasek also reached 375 victories to break a tie with John Vanbiesbrouck for 11th on the career list. Detroit has 31 wins, the most after 42 games in the franchise's 82-year history.
Detroit, which plays the Blackhawks tonight at the United Center, scored on its first shot on goal when Rafalski struck on a one-timer from the slot off Dan Cleary's setup at 3:44. Cleary also scored, beating Mike Smith with a sharp-angled shot at 10:08 of the third period. Johan Franzen added an empty-netter with 19.8 seconds left.
The streaking Red Wings are 16-2-2 in their last 20 games and moved to 5-0-1 against Dallas over the past two seasons. The Stars have lost four straight.

Senators 4, Lightning 3 (OT): Mike Fisher scored 3:17 into overtime to help host Ottawa extend Tampa Bay's losing streak to a season-high seven games.
Penguins 3, Panthers 0: Ty Conklin made 35 saves for his second shutout and seventh victory in seven starts this season, helping host Pittsburgh win its sixth in a row.
Predators 4, Wild 1: J.P. Dumont and Dan Hamhuis each had a goal and an assist to lead host Nashville, which scored 3 first-period goals for the second game in a row. Dumont stretched his goal streak to a career-high four games.
Avalanche 2, Islanders 1 (OT): Marek Svatos scored 2:05 into overtime, helping Colorado snap a four-game losing streak with a win over the visiting New York Islanders.
Blues 1, Hurricanes 0: Lee Stempniak scored his 50th NHL goal in the first period, and Manny Legace made 26 saves to make it stand up in St. Louis' victory over visiting Carolina.
