Tri-Cities Collegians

• Lauren Lafond of Batavia has been named to the Midwest Conference All-Academic team for the fall semester at Monmouth College in Monmouth. She is the daughter of William and Melissa Lafond of Batavia.

Lafond is an economics and international business major. She earned the honor as a member of the Fighting Scots women's soccer team.

To be named to the All-Academic team, a student must have a grade point average of 3.2 and earn a varsity letter.

• Katherine Herrmann, daughter of Anne and Robert Herrmann of Batavia, has been awarded the Betty Wright Downing graduate award at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston where she is a graduate student in communication disorders and sciences.

The award is given to students who demonstrate high academic standing, involvement in campus and community activities and potential to excel professionally.

• Douglas Maurice Mayo of St. Charles has graduated with a bachelor of science degree in nursing from Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo.

Mayo is the son of David and Dolores Mayo of St. Charles. While at the university, he was involved with the Department of Public Safety and The Catholic Newman Center, where he served as Intramural Coordinator.

• North Central College has announced that Elizabeth Zink, a resident of Batavia, has received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology with cum laude honors.

Zink is among 97 students who received baccalaureate and advanced degrees from the college Dec. 1 after completing the fall 2007 term.

Founded in 1861, North Central College is an independent, comprehensive college of the liberal arts and sciences in Naperville.

• Laurel Alexandra Richter of St. Charles received a bachelor of science in business/marketing from the University of Kansas. She is the daughter of James and Roberta Richter and a graduate of St. Charles East High School.

• The following students were named to the fall dean's list at Western Illinois University. To receive this award, a student must earn at least a 3.6 grade point average on a scale of 4.0.
