Probation in Mt. Prospect porn case
An 18-year-old Mount Prospect man who was arrested for possessing child porn after suspect images were found on his computer by a repairman pleaded guilty Thursday.
Edmund Kucharski, of the 1500 block of Barberry Lane, was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to undergo sex offender counseling, register as a sex offender and submit a DNA sample.
While on probation, he's barred from contact with anyone under age 18 unless supervised by an adult at least 25. Prosecutors told Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta that Kucharski was arrested last summer, after his mother brought the family's computer to a Libertyville repair shop and the man working on it noticed files depicting young children in sex acts.
Mount Prospect detectives later found "numerous" video files of children in compromising positions, prosecutors said. Kucharski, whose father stood beside him as he faced the judge Thursday, told police he'd downloaded the files off the Web, prosecutors said.
