Briefs: Man sought in holdup
Fox Lake police are searching for a 5-foot, 5-inch man who held up the 7-Eleven store at gunpoint at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday morning. Fox Lake police Detective Joe Martin said the suspect wore a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black gloves and bright white gym shoes. The suspect walked into the 7-Eleven with the hood pulled tight to cover his face and displayed a chrome handgun, he said. He then asked for the cash in the register, Martin said, prompting the clerk to open the register and give the man $70. The suspect left the store without injuring the clerk. Anyone with information regarding the crime should contact the Fox Lake Police Department at (847) 587-3100.
Man arrested in felony theft
Lincolnshire police have arrested Constantine G. Anagnostopoulos of 300 N. State St. in Chicago for theft over $10,000, a Class 2 felony that, if convicted, could put him behind bars for up to seven years. Police said Anagnostopoulos was a partner in a restaurant in the 900 block of Milwaukee Avenue and used a corporate checking account to write checks to himself that he later cashed. The checking account was for incidental expenses, police said, and was discovered by the corporation during an internal audit. Anagnostopoulos was arrested without incident outside of his Chicago residence and transported to the Lake County Jail. He has been released on a recognizance bond, officials said, and is due back in court in late January.
