Five arrested at Rolling Meadows bowling alley
Five people were arrested after throwing bowling balls down a closed lane and then refusing to leave, according to Rolling Meadows police.
"It was apparently a pretty rowdy group," said Sgt. Tony Gaspari of the Rolling Meadows Police Department. "The manager of the bowling alley did say the group had been drinking alcohol for quite a while."
Police said Mount Prospect residents Paul J. Scropos, 29, and Tina M. Scropos, 28, were both charged with criminal trespassing and resisting arrest. Mount Prospect resident Eric A. Walden, 24, was charged with battery and criminal trespassing. Mount Prospect resident Christopher A. Scropos, 26, and Hoffman Estates resident Andrew A. Deleon, 24, were charged with criminal trespassing.
All five were released on $100 cash bonds. Their next court appearance will be on Jan. 24 at the Rolling Meadows courthouse.
The incident occurred at around 1:45 a.m. Saturday at the AMF Bowl, 3245 Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows, when a group of nine people started to throw bowling balls down the lanes even though the gates were down, Gaspari said.
AMF Bowl's manager asked the group to leave, police said. Four of the nine did. The five that didn't were arrested after police arrived.
"They were pretty verbally abusive toward the manager," Gaspari said.
When police arrived, the remaining people were uncooperative and tried to stop officers from handcuffing their friends, Gaspari said.
For example, during the arrests, Walden "continually poked an officer in the chest, angry that his friends were being arrested," according to a Rolling Meadow police report.
