Hawks center Toews to have MRI on knee
Jonathan Toews, the 19-year-old center for the Blackhawks, is returning to Chicago to have an MRI exam on his left knee, Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon said today.
Toews left Tuesday's game against the Los Angeles Kings in the first period and didn't return to the ice. With 32 points in 36 games, Toews is third in scoring on the Blackhawks.
The Hawks are on a three-game road trip with games Thursday against Phoenix and Friday at Anaheim. They were beaten 9-2 Tuesday by the Los Angeles Kings.
Tallon also announced that the Blackhawks have recalled right winger Kris Versteeg from Rockford. Versteeg, 21, has played in 30 games for the IceHogs in the AHL this season and is second on their scoring list with 9 goals and 20 assists for 29 points and a +7 rating to go along with 45 penalty minutes.
