Dysfunction affects District 158 kids, too
Parents who think the dysfunction on the District 158 school board does not affect their kids need to realize that the collateral damage that comes from Larry Snow and Aileen Seedorf's constant character attacks on board members, administrators and staff is real.
In October, a board member who wanted to share his vast business expertise about best practices for efficiency in the workplace resigned after only six months of abuse by Snow and Seedorf.
On Dec. 21, the top finance administrator resigned, saying it hurt her to see Snow and Seedorf verbally attack her colleagues and she felt like a "sitting duck," wondering when they were going to aim their venom at her.
Perhaps your kids have good teachers this year and you like your principal. But good board members, administrators, and, yes, teachers, are now leaving District 158 so they can go work in a climate where they don't live in fear that their professional reputations will be destroyed by this duo.
It is happening, and the long-term effect is an inability for District 158 to attract and retain quality staff. Who'll be next to leave? Dr. Burkey? Where will District 58 find a high quality finance director mid-year?
Parents need to wake up and realize that the Snow Seedorf antics are affecting their child's education. Parents need to mobilize and vote Snow and Seedorf out of office.
