Students' kind acts leave impression

To the editor: I am a teacher in Mount Prospect District 57 and have been home recovering from recent surgery. I felt inspired to write to the community about a "random act of kindness" that was bestowed upon me during my recovery.

On a recent morning, I awoke to eight Lions Park Elementary School students and two parents raking my yard. I was very touched by their kindness and efforts. After one hour and 30 minutes in light rain and cold, they left. They did not ask for money, they did not ask for a thank you. They simply raked my leaves and left.

I want the community to know that these are our future community members; they are our fine students from Mount Prospect School District 57. Paige Bennett, Celeste and Lauren Caldrone, Grace and Ryan Lannert, Alec Heyde, Ryan Molini, and Karson LaCompte, took time from their holiday break and forever touched my heart by their kind deed.

I am so proud to live and work in such a wonderful community and school district with students as these.
