Republicans have mismanaged budget
To the editor: Has DuPage County board forgotten the Republican play book? Isn't the cure for every thing a tax cut? The voters of DuPage county are being asked to approve a sales tax increase to cover a serious hole in the budget. The Daily Herald has dwelled on the county workers that may be laid off in the public safety area. I don't remember much coverage as to how and who dug this hole. The president and the rubber stamp board have been happily going along for years but this crisis is such a surprise.
Those government workers have to go. I say reject the sales tax increase. Don't get me wrong, I am on the workers' side, but this county needs a serious conversation about the board's governance and direction. Remember how long the county has been run by these good Republican managers. No Democrats have had a hand in this crummy deal.
