Schaumburg resident David Lyke was appointed chief operating officer of the Albany Park Community Center, Chicago. Lyke, who joined the agency in early 2007 as senior director of youth development programs, will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations and activities at the center. Lyke's previous experience includes serving as vice president for the IDS Group, an outpatient substance abuse agency, and as director of prevention and community services at OMNI Youth Services in Buffalo Grove.

The Association of Manufacturing Excellence, Arlington Heights, announced that business journalist and speaker Patricia Panchak has joined its Target magazine as editor-at-large. Panchak, who will write features, develop and enhance the magazine's Web presence and be instrumental in editorial content, has more than 20 years of experience writing about manufacturing, health-care and strategic leadership.

U.S. Cellular appointed Elgin-area resident Derek Estes as director of sales for the Chicago market, to oversee the area's direct and indirect distribution; manage productivity, activity and sales; and supervise area agent distribution. Estes most recently served as the director of sales for central and western Illinois.

Chicago-based R.S. Owens, a manufacturer of premier awards, promoted Austine Bridgeford to executive accounts associate, executive accounts team; Casey Rusin to senior executive accounts associate, executive accounts team; Brian Nawrocki to quoting/costing analyst from executive accounts; Brenda Salgado to the engraving department from assembly; and Juliet Correa to engraving from the trophy wrap department.

Arlington Heights resident Terri Gillespie was appointed president of franchise sales at Dinner by Design, a meal assembly company. Gillespie, who will oversee all franchise sales and development activities for the company, previously served as director of sales and national sales manager for CLTV, a unit of Tribune Co.

Christene Stelk of Chicago joined Des Plaines Office Equipment, Elk Grove Village, as an account executive, responsible for identifying new sales opportunities in the West Loop region of Chicago. Stelk, a University of Illinois graduate, previously served as an agent for Verizon Wireless.

With 30 years of business experience, Dan Dodge was promoted to executive vice president-diversified ventures at Naperville-based Nicor Inc. Dodge, of Naperville, also serves as chairman of Nicor Services, Nicor Solutions and Nicor Enerchange LLC. He joined Nicor in 1998 as vice president of business development, and was promoted in 2002 to senior vice president-diversified ventures and corporate planning. He will be responsible for non-regulated energy affiliates and business development.

The Chamberlain Group Inc., Elmhurst, appointed Mark Karasek executive vice president, engineering and chief technology officer, a newly created position. Karasek will be responsible for developing and implementing plans to drive technology and product development-related practices for Chamberlain and parent company, Duchossois Industries Inc.

The Builders Association of Chicago elected R. Lynn Treat, director of field operations for Ryan Companies US Inc., as its 2008 treasurer. Treat was also re-elected to a three-year board position. He has over 38 years of construction and related experience, and oversees cost estimating, technical design and development, construction activities and subcontractor negotiations for Ryan Companies.

Richard M. Mytnik was promoted to president of Downers Grove-based Illinois Business Systems. Mytnik, who has 27 years of business experience, joins Illinois Business Systems after serving for 10 years as vice president and general manager of RISO Inc.

Hinsdale resident Paul Lambert was named regional director of the Mid-America private banking and investment group at Merrill Lynch. Lambert will oversee private wealth advisers in six Midwestern states. He previously served as director of the Merrill Lynch New York Capital Complex in Albany, N.Y.

Sandra Alcorn of Glen Ellyn was honored with Aurora University's Simeon B. Chapin Award for her dedication to George Williams College of Aurora University, Williams Bay, Wis. Alcorn served as a faculty member for 15 years and as dean of Aurora University's School of Social Work for 17 years.

Suburban Bank & Trust, Elmhurst, announced the appointment of Wayne Pavlicek of Downers Grove as executive vice president and chief financial officer. Pavlicek, who has over 25 years of banking experience, joined Suburban Bank in November from Mount Prospect National Bank, where he also served as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants.
