South Elgin is seeking residents interested in designing a new village seal and slogan for the town. Monday is the deadline to submit your ideas. The contest winner will receive $100. Pick your favorite window

Don't forget to vote for your favorite design during Elgin's Window Wonderland competition. You have until Monday to cast your vote for the business you think created the most interesting window display. You can drop your ballots off at the following locations: the Downtown Neighborhood Association, 2 Douglas Ave.; the Gail Borden Library, 270 N. Grove Ave.; Al's Café and Creamery, 43 DuPage Court; Elgin city hall, 150 Dexter Court; the Centre of Elgin, 100 Symphony Way; and Elgin Jewelers, 11 N. Survey says -- Wi-Fi

Crystal Lake-based Heartland Communications has agreed to conduct a study on the feasibility of providing Algonquin residents, schools and businesses with Wi-Fi technology. As part of the research, the company will determine competitive pricing plans and find additional places for its antennas. The study comes at no cost to the village, said Lowell Todd, president of Heartland Communications.

Lions offer discount bingo

The South Elgin Lions Club will hold raffles and half-priced bingo games at 7 tonight in the club headquarters at 500 Fulton St. All regular bingo games will be sold at half price, while all special or raffle games will be sold at regular price. A total of $2,200 will be paid out on the bingo games plus additional raffle pay outs. The doors open at 5 p.m. Call (847) 888-9575.
