A different view on Obama's candidacy

The village president of Buffalo Grove's recent fencepost letter supporting Barack Obama needs a reality check.

He said Obama is "that special kind of leader who can bring us together to bridge the national divide and rally and excite the nation to come together."

Just how will Obama do that, given the extreme left views he has shown with his voting record? He's not a middle-of-the road type of guy. In fact, he's so far left he's not even on the road; he's over on the left shoulder somewhere. Don't be fooled by his rhetoric. Look at his voting record.

If you do, as I have, you'll also find he chose to vote neither "nay" nor "yea" on many important issues but merely "present." The next president of the United States, when confronted with a difficult decision, cannot vote "present." That person must take a stand even though many people will disagree with it.

That's what leaders do.
