Blackhawks recall St. Pierre, Blunden

As expected, the Blackhawks made a couple of player moves to compensate for injuries to Martin Vavlat and Dave Bolland.

General manager Dale Tallon has recalled forwards Martin St. Pierre and Michael Blunden from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. They will take the place of Havlat (groin), Bolland (broken finger), and Ben Eager (mild concussion), who were all placed on injured reserve.

St. Pierre has appeared in 29 games for Rockford scoring 13 goals, 6 on the power play, to go along with 26 assists for 39 points and 36 penalty minutes with a +7 rating. The 24 year-old center has played in 16 career NHL games with 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points with 8 penalty minutes.

Blunden, 21, was the Blackhawks' second-round pick (43rd overall) in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. This season at Rockford, Blunden has appeared in 32 games scoring 9 goals, 4 on the power play, while adding 15 assists for 24 points with 44 penalty minutes and a +8 rating.

Blunden made his NHL debut last season appearing in 9 games for the Blackhawks with 10 penalty minutes.

The Blackhawks host the Nashville Predators tonight at the United Center at 7:30 p.m.
