Fuel-efficiency goal is national disgrace
What a disgrace for Congress to mandate a fleet fuel efficiency of 35 mpg by 2020.
Do they know that there already are cars that offer higher efficiencies than that?
This May, I was in St. Louis with my brother-in-law and his wife. We drove all over the St. Louis area and were getting 48 mpg in his Prius.
Isn't it time to not be dependent on foreign oil? Isn't it time for Congress and our government to be independent from the corporate lobby?
We need leadership to step forward and say that 10 years from now is too long.
Our government must provide funds for development research, but not to corporations. Small business is the answer. The internet provided it.
But we also must do our part. We must confront our representatives at the local, state and national level and ask for more progress and representation for us. We must buy more fuel-efficient items. We must put our country and fellow man first and ahead of our own needs.
That was what made America great and not how rich we are.
