Why not reward teachers well?

This teacher bashing is ridiculous. So what if they receive a decent amount of vacation time? Firefighters also receive plenty of time off.

Along the same lines, firefighters and police officers receive retirement packages on par with teachers. (Why aren't you complaining about the firefighters and police officers.)

It sounds like jealousy from people very unhappy with their own jobs. If you are that unhappy, go back to school and work your you-know-what off(like my wife did). Then, become a teacher and work your you-know-what off some more(like my wife is doing now).

I have a son who, if early indications and heredity hold true, will be very intelligent. I will definitely recommend a career in teaching to my son.

But not if it does not come with some rewards(nice vacations, nice retirement). Who do you want teaching? Do you want very intelligent people or just people with average or lower intelligence teaching our children?
