Get those new homes inspected
One would think that with all the turmoil going on in the housing market today that a couple ready, willing and qualified to take on a mortgage for a newly built home would be treated like gold.
Apparently not at the Town and Country development going up in McHenry called the Oaks of Irish Prairie.
Couples who contracted to purchase new homes in this development found out very quickly that quality was not going to be a major priority with this company. Despite repeated attempts to get the quality concerns addressed and corrected, the company opted instead to refund the earnest money and cancel the contracts of the more persistent buyers that refused to close due to these quality issues.
So as the recent articles regarding home inspections published by the Daily Herald emphasized, do not assume that just because it is a new home, that quality is automatically built in, or that village or town inspectors have caught any mistakes made.
So buyers beware, the already built home you might contemplate buying at the Oaks of Irish Prairie in McHenry might just be a home that was contracted to another buyer who rejected it due to quality concerns. Get thorough home inspections done, from the foundation all the way to the roof.
