Wolfe figures in Bears' plans against Vikings
After getting just 9 touches in the first 12 weeks, rookie running back Garrett Wolfe had 7 last week -- 4 catches for 37 yards and 3 runs for 13 yards.
The 50 total yards more than doubled his season output, which previously consisted of 31 rushing yards.
More opportunities are expected Monday night.
"We'll get him in there," said offensive coordinator Ron Turner. "We definitely want to get him in and take a look because he has quickness and speed."
Most of Wolfe's production against the Redskins came as a receiver, but he was hardly satisfied with his all-around performance in passing situations after reviewing film.
"You have to be more active in pass protection," he said. "I saw in pass protection that I kind of got knocked on my butt a little bit, and that's something I'm not proud of. (But) I think for the most part I held my own and did what I was supposed to do."
At 5-feet-7 and 186 pounds, Wolfe will inevitably face physical mismatches as a pass protector. But he will not be asked to take on either of the Vikings' 300-pound plus tackles, Pat and Kevin Williams.
"Those two guys in the middle are trouble," Wolfe said. "The main thing I'm excited about it is I'm not responsible to block those guys. I just have to make those guys miss (as a ball carrier)."
