SUV rolls over in Wauconda

Wauconda police said a brown SUV spun out of control and rolled over in the center median ditch on Route 12 Friday morning. Police said the accident took place about a half-mile south of Bonner Road and resulted in no injuries. Rush-hour traffic was reduced to one southbound lane from about 6:45 a.m. until just before 8 a.m. while the scene was investigated. The SUV was headed south on Route 12 when it spun out of control on ice. The driver was not cited by police.

Bond set in Silo shooting

Edward Jackson, 39, of 7926 S. Mozart, Chicago, is held in Lake County jail on $1 million bond for his role in Sunday's shooting at The Silo restaurant near Lake Bluff. Two restaurant employees were wounded during the attempted robbery. Lake County Assistant State's Attorney Steve Scheller said Jackson's next hearing is Jan. 7. Jackson was working at the restaurant that night and admitted he set up the robbery with two other suspects, authorities said. Police are looking for Charles Knight, 44, of Chicago, who they say was the gunman in the shooting, and a third suspect, known to police as "James" or "Kenny Mac." Jackson and Knight are charged with aggravated battery with a fire arm. Scheller said Jackson tried to help police find Knight, but the search was unsuccessful. Jackson was on parole from Cook County jail because of a 1996 attempted murder. Sheller was unsure how long Jackson worked at the restaurant before the shooting.

Ninth-warmest fall

Fall temperatures in Illinois were the ninth-warmest since 1895, according to State Climatologist Jim Angel of the Illinois State Water Survey. Fall temperatures were 2.9 degrees above normal, the result of warmer September and October temperatures that were well above normal. Angel said December already is in a very active winter weather pattern, with temperatures averaging five degrees below normal and significant snow and ice accumulations in northern and central Illinois. The National Weather Service outlook calls for continuing temperatures below normal. The December-to-February outlook calls for above average temperatures and precipitation.
