The Kane County Audubon group will have a special meeting at 7 p.m. on the ivory-billed woodpecker at Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Ave., St. Charles, (near the swimming pool). This program brings together Audubon with the St. Charles Park District and The Field Museum of Chicago. Doug Stotz, conservation ecologist and ornithologist from the Field Museum, will talk about the bird. For information, call Bob Andrini at (630) 584-8386.

Batavia's Books Between Bites welcomes Batavia's Mayor Jeff Schielke from noon to 1 p.m. at the Batavia Public Library. An annual participant since the program began 21 years ago, Schielke presents a program on "Newly Discovered Batavia Literary Highlights," sharing the wide range of literature he has uncovered that features or mentions Batavia. The public is welcome to this free program held in the community room of the library, 10 S. Batavia Ave.

Aurora University voice students will perform in a recital at 5 p.m. The program is free to the public in Perry Theatre in the Aurora Foundation Center for Community Enrichment at 1305 Kenilworth Place in Aurora. Selections will include classical, popular and musical theater repertoire.

Déjà Vu Thrift Shop of Geneva is opening its Warehouse Furniture Showroom at 911 Sullivan Road in Aurora (Belmont Machinery Co. building) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. toay and Saturday. The thrift shop benefits the Society of St. Vincent DePaul, a Catholic lay charity.
