Readers have their say on Vick's sentence

Vick owes debt for deeds

I think Michael Vick should have to give at least half, or more, of his money to animal rescues or any organization that has to do with saving the lives that he thoughtlessly took away.

Do you think he gave those dogs a choice? Sure he did -- either live and fight, or die slowly and painfully.

It breaks my heart to know that so many people look at animals like "things" and not living, breathing, feeling creatures who only want to love and be loved. And I am sure those dogs were loyal to him even to the very end.

IT IS HEARTWRENCHING!!!

Thank you for giving those of us who hurt a place to vent. God bless.

Punishment not enough

Does the punishment fit the crime? Absolutely NOT.

The maximum of five years doesn't fit the crime. One can only hope that Vick encounters a dog lover or three during his stay.

Vick's time fits crime

Michael Vick got what he deserved. … The time fits the crime. No, I don't think he should come back to Atlanta, I'd rather them lose than have him. … Forgiving has nothing to do with it. I'm tired of sports figures living a life of crime when they have more means than 99 percent of us. They need to be heroes for our kids, not models of destruction.

Vick's NFL return uncertain

I doubt very much that Michael Vick will return to the NFL. It's a big-money game with huge investments/stakes for the owners.

How much of a chance can they take when there is considerable talent constantly coming through the college ranks?

Despite his apology (sincere or not), many fans and players are unlikely to be forgiving. This isn't child abuse, but for many it's pretty much the same.

Legal system fails Vick

People always talk about redemption and a fair legal system. I believe in the legal system as much as I believe in Santa Claus.

People also say that prejudice is not still happening in America. False!

Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Kiefer Sutherland get probation for something, while Michael Vick gets two years? For dogs?

You tell me if it sounds fair? And if you think it is, tell Santa Claus I said hi, too!

Just telling it like it is.
