Lyric Opera, "Doctor Atomic": Join Lyric Opera lecturer Gary Pett for a lively discussion of "Doctor Atomic" at 7 p.m. Dec. 13. Director Peter Sellars takes us to Los Alamos, New Mexico. It's 1945. Scientists are working on a top-secret project for the U.S. government: development of the A-Bomb. This is the opera that created shock waves at its San Francisco world premier.

Friday Afternoon at the Movies: The movie "Santa Clause 3: Escape Clause" will be shown noon to 1:145 p.m. Dec. 14.

Santa Clause's time at the North Pole is about to go south as he is faced with keeping the mischievous Jack Frost from taking over Christmas. Starring Tim Allen, Martin Short and Ann-Margret. Rated G.

Holidays in the Movies: Film Buff Steve Frenzel will get us in the holiday spirit with his selection of classic film clips, fun facts and stories about the actors, actresses, and filmmakers behind the movie magic, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Dec. 18.
