Hanukkah through the eyes of pre-schoolers

As Hanukkah comes to an end tonight, we asked 4- and 5-year-olds to tell us about latkes, and what else they like about the holiday. The children are all students at the Jewish Council for Youth Services in Buffalo Grove.

Simone Merlin, Buffalo Grove

How do you make latkes?

Start by scrubbing the vegetables. Then, put them in the oven and they will make themselves. You should serve them with salt and mayonnaise.

Amelia Landau, Vernon Hills

How do you make latkes?

Start by slicing the potatoes and some apples and fry them in a pan with oil. Serve them with sour cream and apple sauce.

Hailey Jones, Deerfield

I tried them with cream cheese, but they didn't taste very good.

Lindsey Grant, Buffalo Grove

I got a camera and took a picture of my mom.
