Briefs: Acura closes and inks deal with King

PALATINE -- Acura Pharmaceuticals Inc. announced the closing of a license, development and commercialization agreement with King Pharmaceuticals Research and Development Inc., a subsidiary of King Pharmaceuticals Inc. Acura said it received an initial $30 million non-refundable cash payment from King under the contract. The agreement closing was subject to anti-trust regulatory clearance, which was received Dec. 6.

Berg Engineering makes the grade

SCHAUMBURG -- The Illinois chapter of American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers awarded Berg Engineering Consultants the 2007 Excellence in Engineering Award for the design of the Lyons Township High School south campus swimming pool heat and air conditioning unit. This is the second design award the south campus expansion has won.
