Elgin High

• On Wednesday, seven choirs will present a Holiday Choral Concert at 7 p.m. in the Elgin High School auditorium, 1200 Maroon Drive, Elgin. Anyone donating new hats, gloves, mittens or scarves for those in need will be given free admission to the concert. A reception and raffle will be sponsored by the "Friends of Music" parent organization.

Larkin High

• On Tuesday, the Mixed Chorus, Concert Choir and Chamber Choir will present a Holiday Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Larkin High School auditorium, 1475 Larkin Ave., Elgin. The concert is open to the public. Ticket prices are $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.

• On Thursday, the Symphony Orchestra, Concert Orchestra, and orchestral students from the Visual and Performing Arts Academy will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The concert is open to the public. Ticket prices are $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.

South Elgin High

• An orientation for eighth-graders and their parents will be presented at 7 p.m. today in the South Elgin High School auditorium, 760 E. Main St. Incoming ninth-graders will learn about course selection and elective classes by visiting with representatives from various departments. For details, call (847) 289-3760, ext. 3394.

• On Wednesday, the first annual madrigal dinner will be presented at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium lobby. Tickets are $28 per adult, and $25 per student. Call (847) 289-3760, ext. 3803.

Abbott

• On Tuesday, parents, students, staff and community are invited to attend the second Parent University event at 6 p.m. at Abbott Middle School, 949 Van St., Elgin. "Responsibility Connections … Home, School and Community" is an open forum for families to share their thoughts about important topics such as homework, relationships, and money. Refreshments will be served and babysitting services will be provided for kids, age 3 to 6.

• On Friday, the student council will host a Winter Dance from 6 to 8 p.m. in the gym.

Ellis

• On Tuesday, parents of eighth-graders at Ellis Middle School in Elgin will meet the Elgin High School administration and staff for a Curriculum Fair to be held at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 1200 Maroon Drive.

• On Wednesday, the orchestra will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium, 225 S. Liberty St., Elgin. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.

• On Thursday, the choral department will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.

Kenyon Woods

• On Friday, the school dance will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Kenyon Woods Middle School commons, 1515 Raymond St., South Elgin

Larsen

• On Tuesday, the Choral department will present a concert at 7 p.m. in the Larsen Middle School auditorium, 665 Dundee Ave., Elgin. Admission is $1 per student, $2 per adult, and $6 per family.

Channing

• Families are invited to join their children for the monthly Pack-a-Sack lunch today in the Channing Elementary School multi-purpose room, 63 S. Channing St., Elgin.

Horizon

• On Friday at 10:45 a.m., the fifth- and sixth-grade choral students at Horizon Elementary School in Hanover Park will travel to Lexington Health Care Center in Streamwood to perform holiday songs for residents.

Laurel Hill

• On Tuesday through Friday, a Scholastic Book Fair will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Laurel Hill Elementary School Learning Center, 1750 Laurel Ave., Hanover Park. On Wednesday, the book fair will be open from 6:30 to 8 p.m. for the families. The chorus also will sing and children will be performing Reader's Theater.

Lowrie

• On Tuesday, a Math Workshop for parents will be presented from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lowrie Elementary School, 264 Oak St., Elgin. The guest speaker for the free workshop is instructional coach Deb Devine.

Ontarioville

• On Thursday, Ontarioville Elementary School will host a Family Night Celebration and Raffle at 6:30 p.m. at the school, 2100 Elm St., Hanover Park. Raffle tickets cost $1.

Washington

• On Thursday, the sixth-graders will participate in a multi-cultural luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at Washington Elementary School, 819 W. Chicago St., Elgin. Students will bring a traditional dish to pass that celebrates their culture.
