McHenry man pleads guilty in sexual assault of 6-year-old girl

A 29-year-old McHenry man faces up to 11 years in prison next month after pleading guilty Friday to allegations he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl earlier this year.
Marco Diaz admitted guilt to one count of predatory criminal sexual assault filed in connection with accusations he molested the girl May 27 at his residence.
The girl, who knew Diaz, later reported it to her mother, who contacted McHenry police.
In exchange for his guilty plea, McHenry County prosecutors agreed to cap Diaz's potential sentence at 11 years, rather than the 30-year maximum he faced if found guilty after a trial. He will remain in custody at the McHenry County jail until his sentencing, scheduled for Jan. 23.
